Two roads diverged in a wood,
And we chose the one less traveled by.
We pray that will make all the difference.
– Inspired by Robert Frost
Miles and I truly love being outdoors – backpacking, hiking, scuba diving, bike riding – you name it. We love it! The sound of the wind, the warmth of the sun, the sound of a babbling brook, the feeling of grass between our toes, and the beauty of a starlit sky. Our love for nature is what originally brought us together and continues to be a strong connection point for us as our relationship continues to grow and deepen.
Through our various outdoor excursions, we have both come to admire and cherish the immense value, power, and wisdom a trail can hold. Hiking a trail has offered us the unique gift of venturing away from the noise, restlessness, and busyness of the L.A. area to experience the revered gift of simplicity, solitude, genuine conversations, natural beauty, and quality connection with God. Residing in the L.A. area, a society that tends to be sped-up, overstimulated, and over connected, the need for genuine and constructive solitude has seemed to become utterly lost. We, in turn, have found ourselves lost in the process and in need of rejuvenation and reflection.
In hopes of continuing to grow as people, build a strong foundation for our marriage, choose adventure over complacency, and think well about our future, Miles and I have decided to take a risk. We are choosing to step away from our comfortable jobs and salaries, apartment a few minutes away from the beach, and the physical presence of our close family and friends to “take the road less traveled by.” Are we scared? Nervous? Excited? Second guessing our decision? Yes, 100%. Yet, we know deep within our hearts that we made the right choice to take the “road less traveled by,” and we truly believe this “will make all the difference.”
